QS-052 · Battery communication & BMS

Pylontech US5000 not communicating with the inverter. CAN or RS485 settings?

The short answer
Match RS485 baud (DIP1) on all masters, set CAN terminal DIP2 to 0, and use a cable with only H/L/GND pins.

Plain explanation

From the Pylontech manual for the US5000: RS485 baud DIP1 the same on all masters; restart. CAN terminal resistance DIP2 set to 0. The rest of the checklist is below; work through it in order. Installer only: DC and AC work on a live PV system is dangerous, so owners should note the code and call their installer.

Steps from the source

  1. RS485 baud DIP1 the same on all masters; restart
  2. CAN terminal resistance DIP2 set to 0
  3. CAN uses only H/L/GND pins – correct cable
